Everything beyond the day job: advisory and consulting, project work, business building, design and development, music, film and events. The rooms change, the habits carry over. Plan carefully, build it properly, and care how it looks.
01 · Advisory
Technology strategy for owners and leadership teams.
Helping leadership decide what to do with technology before the money gets spent: where AI genuinely fits, which platforms to keep or retire, and what the risk looks like if nothing changes.
Fractional and interim CIO
IT roadmaps and budgets
AI readiness and governance
Vendor selection and contract review
02 · Consulting
Hands-on delivery, right through to handover.
Most engagements end with something running: a tenant locked down, a migration finished, a new platform adopted, an app in production. These days that work runs through North Rain Technologies, for clients in BC, Ontario and beyond.
Migrations, office moves, platform rollouts and launches, run end to end. Clear plans, straight status updates, and a cutover with a rollback ready if it needs one.

Budgets, timelines and vendors
Cutover weekends and rollback plans
Documentation and handover
04 · Business building
Seven organizations, started from nothing.
Starting things since 2003: an IT services company, a consultancy, a paddleboard rental business on Kitsilano Beach and, on the zero-profit side, an interactive arts studio, a sober rave collective and a creative community in Vancouver.
Websites, apps and the graphics that go with them.
Building websites since the early 2000s, and these days that includes apps with AI inside them. Design comes with the territory: logos, posters, brand kits and stage visuals. This site and everything in the Lab came out of the same toolbox.
Making music since 1999, and making things sound right.
Producing music since 1999, mostly electronic and mostly written in Propellerhead Reason, the main studio since the early 2000s. Original tracks and DJ sets, mixed and mastered start to finish, which over time grew into sound design and audio engineering for video, commercials, games and live shows.
Music production, mixing and mastering
Multi-instrumentalist, writing and playing my own parts
It started on the road: a few years living out of a van, crossing the continent and documenting it on film, in photographs and from the air, then coming home hooked on telling stories through places. Editing happens in Vegas Pro, the go-to since the early 2000s. The drone work is certified and flown under Transport Canada permits since 2016, and some of the footage is licensed through Shutterstock.
Events from small fundraisers to overnight shows for a few hundred people, plus festival stages across BC. The booking, the budget and the volunteers matter as much as the stage build, the sound and the lasers. Anything that needs power, a schedule and a plan B is fair game.
